Display General Server Information


Description:
  • This procedures describes how to display the system summary of a system which consists of:
    • Hardware Summary
    • Network Summary
    • Disk Summary

The report is a front end navigation to other reports for this server such as network and patchdiag. If RunBooks are enable, their hyperlinks will be displayed.

Prerequisites:
  • None
Note:
  • q-Status™ system summary information is collected using the Unix commands prtdaig, ifconfig, df and format. In addition the reports looks at all the server generated raw data to any complex server associations such as Solaris Zone dependencies.

Step Action Description
1 Select the Hardware
from the "Basic" Icon set

Move mouse over the Hardware Icon till the text is enlarged, then click. The single host selection page will be displayed with a "General Information" Title.

Note: All in blue in any Icon text will generate a single host selection dialog.
2 Select Servers

Navigate through the host selection page, filtering or ordering server selection till the proper Hostname appears. Move mouse over magifying icon () for that Hostname till it enlarges, then click. The "System Information Listing" report will be display.

3 Breakdown of Report Tables The "System Information Listing" consist of three sections:
  • System image (if defined or assigned)
  • Hyperlinks Detail Reports
    • Network Details
    • Server Patchdiag
    • Installed Packages Detail
    • Kernel Parameters
    • Display Server RAW Prtdiag data
    • Display Server RAW Prtconf data
    • Installed DIsks Details
    • Veritas Disk Group Assignments
    • Veritas Disk Layouts
    • Cluster Configuration (either Sun or Veritas)
    • Zone Configuration (if application)
  • General System Information
    • Nodename
    • Current OS
    • System Type
    • Global Zone Host (if applicable)
    • Assigned Zones (if applicable)
    • System Build
    • System Type
    • Hostid
    • Serial Number (default "Not Recorded")
    • Group Assignment(s)
    • Number of Processor and Frequency
    • Memory
    • System Clock
    • Domain Name
    • Uptime
  • Active Network Interfaces
    • Interface
    • Hostname
    • IP Address
    • Netmask
  • Board Summaries
    • Board Location (e.g. Slot)

4 Optional Display System
Boards from System Image
If the server is a member of any Star Cat, Star Fire, or Sun Fire complex server, "Board Display" text will be displayed under the image indicating this is a link to display the server board layout.

Click either the image or the "Board Display" text to diaply the server board layout.

5 Optional Display of Detail
Information
Detail reports are hyperlink from the "System Information Listing" under the server image.

The hyperlink display detail information of the specific classification by calling the specific report for that server without going through that server selection dialog. These hyperlinks are context sensitive and consist of:

  • Network Details
  • Server Patchdiag
  • Installed Packages Detail
  • Kernel Parameters
  • Display Server RAW Prtdiag data
  • Display Server RAW Prtconf data (only available through this hyperlink)
  • Installed DIsks Details
  • Veritas Disk Group Assignments
  • Veritas Disk Layouts
  • Cluster Configuration (either Sun or Veritas)
  • Zone Configuration (if application)

For example, "Network Details calls "Display Server Network Information" and "Installed Packages Detail" calls the "Compare Packages Across Multiple Servers" with selected server as the only parameter.

Note: Display Server RAW "prtconf" data generated by the Solaris Unix command prtconf -vp can only be access through the "Prtconf" hyperlink.

6 Optional Toggle between
Solaris Zones and Global Zone
If the "System Information Listing" is for a Solaris Zone server or a Solaris Global Zone Server, hyperlink entries will exist for "Global Zone Host:" and "Zones:"

Clicking the "Zones" hyperlink under the server image will display the "Solaris Zones Configuration" for that server. See "Solaris Zone-Displaying Configuration" for more information.

7 Optional Display RunBook
information
Any "System Information Listing" for a server where RunBooks links have been enabled will display a list of RunBook hyperlinks at the bottom of the page:

8 Optionally click
Host:<hostname>
for prtdaig RAW data display.
Move mouse over the hostname of the server. When highlighted, click mouse to display RAW prtdaig data collected by q-Status™.

Note: The RAW Network data for q-Status™ is generated from the Solaris Unix commands hprtdiag -v.
